2016 Mining Day

The 2016 Mining Day was another great success. Thank you to our co sponsor CIM South Central Branch. This year saw more contests and hands on fun. One of the days favourites was once again, Yukon Dan, who taught well over 500 people the art of gold panning. KEG brought in cookie mining where attendees had to try and mine the chocolate chips with a tooth pick without breaking the cookie. We also had several education displays, ask a geologist and the bike draw. One lucky young man, Kaiden, won a rock tumbler for posting a picture with the hashtag #miningday2016. Congratulations to Ivy McMillian who won the bike this year. Thank you to all the sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers and the committee who worked so hard to bring this special event.
